AMC Men's Golf Championship Preview
St. Louis, Mo. - [Tournament Page] The 2024 American Midwest Conference (AMC) men's golf championship will be held at Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo., beginning Monday. The 54-hole championship will feature golfers from five AMC schools and will be played with tee times on Monday (starting at 8:30 a.m. in 10-minute intervals) and a shotgun start on Tuesday.
Participating teams include Central Baptist College, Columbia College, Missouri Baptist University, William Woods University and Williams Baptist University.
About the Teams:

Central Baptist College has seven top-3 finishes in the 10 events it has competed in this year, including winning the Williams Baptist Fall Invitational, Scots Spring Invitational, and the Missouri Baptist Invitational.

Columbia College enters as defending Champion, winning last year's event by 8 strokes over Missouri Baptist University (873-881). The Cougars, who have been ranked as high as sixth in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, currently sit at 13th and have won five tournaments this year and placed second in three. Three times in nine tournaments Columbia has finished under par as a team (-22 at the William Woods Fall Invite, -5 at the Big Muddy Shootout, and -10 at the Columbia Cougar Classic)

Missouri Baptist University finished first at the Conference Clash at the Rail and shot its best team score (+18). They are coming off a third place tie at the MBU Spring Invitational in their most recent competition.

William Woods University has won five consecutive tournaments and seven straight top-two finishes. The Owls shot two over at the Battle of Big Creek a team-best 4-under-par at the William Woods Fall Invite, one of two under-par team finishes on the year (-1 at the Big Muddy Shootout).

Williams Baptist University won the Old Kinderhook Battle in the Ozarks and had it's team-best +10 tournament score at the Scots Fall Invitational. The Eagles have seen their team score improve in each of their four spring tournaments from +62 at the Scots Spring Invitational to +41 at their most recent tournament, the Missouri Baptist Spring Invitational.

Columbia's Sean Minor enters the AMC Championship with a Conference-best 72.5 adjusted stroke average, as the Cougars have five of the top-10 players in the Conference (Minor, Kanon Kendrick 2nd - 72.9, Giacomo Comerio 3rd - 73.0, Trey Burton 5th - 74.1, and Pedro Marchioni 10th - 75.0).

The remaining top-10 adjusted stroke averages belong to defending AMC Champion Spencer Worley of William Woods (4th, 73.2), Central Baptist's Kisakan Jairak (6th, 74.2), Williams Baptist's Tyler Parr (7th, 74.3), William Woods' Aiden Asby (8th, 74.4) and Central Baptist's Jakub Slapal (9th, 74.8).

Eight golfers took home Medalist honors in at least one tournament this season - Minor (three), Comerio (two), Parr (two), Jairak, Slapal, Kendrick, Worley, Asby, and William Woods' Tom Gehring.

Kendrick's 11-under-par at the William Woods Fall Invitational is the lowest tournament score relative to par for an AMC golfer this year.
Top Returning Players:

Six of last year's top-10 finishers return this year as well nine of the 15 members of the All-Conference Team.

Worley, a First Team All-Conference pick, won last year's individual title with a 5-under-par 211, topping Central's Baptist's Leopold Meas and Columbia's Giacomo Comerio by two strokes.

Other top-10 finishers returning are, Sean Minor (t-8th, 220), Central Baptist's Kitsakon Jairak (t-4th, 216), and William Woods' Aiden Asby (t-10th, 222).

Minor was the Golfer of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in addition to a First Team All-Conference selection. Worley took home Freshman of the Year along with his All-Conference Team honor.

Slapal (First), Kendrick (First), Comerio (Second), Marchioni (Second), Asby (Second), Burton (Honorable Mention) and Gehring (Honorable Mention) are the other returning All-Conference honorees.

Tyler Parr was the 2022 AMC Freshman of the Year, also earning Second Team All-Conference honors that season. Kendrick (Second) and Marchioni (Honorable Mention) also earned All-Conference recognition two years ago.
