Stephens College's KaLynn Irey Named Nominee for Prestigious Allstate NACDA Good Works Team
NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Stephens College women's basketball standout KaLynn Irey has been named a nominee for the inaugural Allstate and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Good Works Team, recognizing student-athletes who exemplify excellence in academics, athletics, and community impact.
Announced on February 20, 2025, by Allstate and NACDA, this distinguished honor celebrates 193 nominees across 17 winter sports, including basketball, gymnastics, swimming and diving, and ice hockey. The program highlights the leadership, service, and character of student-athletes who positively influence their communities and serve as role models beyond the court or field.
"These young women and men are more than competitors - they're leaders, changemakers, and role models," said Holly Rowe, ESPN reporter and Allstate NACDA Ambassador. "Their influence extends beyond the game, shaping communities and teaching others the value of leadership skills, like empathy, resilience, and integrity, which will last a lifetime."
A Prestigious Recognition for a Dedicated Student-Athlete
Irey's nomination places her among elite company, joining athletes from across NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior/Community College programs. The junior forward has demonstrated exceptional leadership on and off the court, balancing her athletic and academic commitments while actively engaging in community service initiatives that align with Stephens College's values of service and empowerment.
About the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team
This newly established recognition expands upon the long-standing Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which has honored college football players for their service efforts since 1992. The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team extends this legacy to all collegiate sports, ensuring that student-athletes across divisions and disciplines receive recognition for their positive contributions to their schools and communities.
A distinguished selection committee, including prominent sports figures and athletics administrators, will narrow the 193 nominees to a final 20-member team-10 male and 10 female student-athletes. Those selected will be recognized nationally for their contributions, highlighting the importance of leadership and service in collegiate athletics.
