Missouri Baptist Wins AMC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship
Elsah, Ill. - [Championship Page] The Missouri Baptist Spartans won the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship, their first since 2019 and third overall, on Saturday, at Coach Crafton Center in Elsah, Ill.
The Spartans scored 170 points to beat out William Woods who claimed 154 points. Columbia (132), Cottey (85) and Health Sciences and Pharmacy (54) rounded out the top-five team scores.
Championship Notes:

Mia Reed from Missouri Baptist and Nia Hawkins from William Woods were named co-Athletes of the Meet. Reed also took home Outstanding Track Athlete with Hawkins taking home Outstanding Field Athlete.

Reed, who was also Outstanding Track Athlete of the 2022 Championship, won the mile and 1000m, finished second in the 3000, and was part of the second-place 4x400 relay team.

Hawkins won the long jump, finished second in the triple jump, third in the high jump, fifth in the 60m dash, and was part of the fourth-place 4x400 relay team.

Laine Cottrell from Missouri Baptist was named Newcomer of the Year. She finished third in the 200m and fourth in the 60m.

Hannah Hiers from Missouri Baptist was named Freshman of the Year. She won the 60m, placed fourth in the long jump, sixth in the 60-hurdles and eighth in the 200m.

Three athletes defended 2023 titles - Cottey's Hannah Hayduk (400m), Missouri Baptist's Mia Reed (1000m), and William Woods' Mekayla Gibson (5000m).

Madalenn Fee of Cottey set the Conference record in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:38.62, eclipsing the previous record of 1:38.78 (2018 by Faith Reynolds, MBU)

First-year member Haskell found the medal stand in four events (first in the 4x800 relay, second in 60m, and third in 800m and DMR)
