Grace Beyer Named NAIA Player of the Week (12-7-21)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced UHSP's Grace Beyer (SO/Eagle, Wis.) as the NAIA Women's Basketball Player of the Week (POW) for Nov. 29-Dec. 5. It is the first week the NAIA has presented the national award for the 2021-22 season.

On Monday, Beyer received her fifth American Midwest Conference (AMC) Player of the Week award for this season to earn the AMC nomination for the first week of the National award.

Beyer averaged 32.5 points, three steals, and four rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Eutectics last week.

She scored 45 points to break her own UHSP record for Single Game Points in the Eutectics' 74-73 overtime victory at Harris-Stowe State University on Thursday, Dec. 2. She set the previous record of 43 points on the road early this season versus University of Tennessee Southern on Oct. 30.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, Beyer scored another 20 points in the UHSP narrow loss to Stephens College. With her second free throw of the game, she broke the Eutectic women's basketball program record for Career Points of 1,263 held by current student assistant coach Morgan Rose since 2019. 10 games into her third season as a Eutectic, Beyer now has 1,282 career points.

Beyer continues to lead the NAIA, averaging 32.8 points per game – more than six points than the next-highest scorer in the nation. She leads the Conference in Points per Game, Total Points (328), Free Throw Percentage (88.1%), and Minutes (40.9 per game).

With the award, she becomes the first-ever Eutectic Basketball NAIA Player of the Week and the second-ever UHSP student-athlete to receive the NAIA POW for any sport.

Beyer became the first Women's Basketball player in Eutectic history to earn NAIA All-America honors in 2020-21, earning Honorable Mention honors. She is a two-time All-Conference player, and currently tallies nine conference Player of the Week accolades since becoming a Eutectic in 2019 – more than any other student-athlete in Eutectic history.
