ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the 2021-22 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team members and season award winners.
All awards are voted on by the nine coaches in the conference.
All stats are prior to the AMC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship game that was played on March 1, 2022.
Central Baptist College guard Kelvin Robinson was selected as the AMC Player of the Year after an outstanding campaign that saw him lead the league in scoring with 20.3 points per game while finishing eighth in both assists per game (3.0) and rebounds per game (7.0).
Darius Yohe picked up his third career AMC Defensive Player of the Year award with a strong showing in his junior year. The Ishpeming, Michigan native led the conference in blocks (81) by a wide margin, blocks per game (2.6), and came in second in rebounds per game with 9.1.
Chima Oduocha won the Newcomer of the Year award after an impressive first season with the Columbia Cougars. The senior forward from Chicago, Illinois, helped his team to a 13-3 conference record behind his 14.5 PPG (seventh in AMC) and 7.6 RPG (fourth in AMC).
The Freshman of the Year was Lyon College standout, John Paul Morgan. The first-year guard from Moorefield, Arkansas, performed on both sides of the ball, leading the league in rebounds per game (10.4) while posting 13.3 points per game (eighth in AMC).
Missouri Baptist Head Coach Preston Ingram was selected by his peers as the AMC Coach of the Year after guiding the Spartans to a regular-season championship with a 15-1 record in the conference and a 25-5 record overall.
