FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods Owls won their first-ever American Midwest Conference Tournament Presented by Tandem HR title with a victory over the Central Baptist Mustangs on Tuesday night, 85-52.
- William Woods is now 1-2 all-time in championship game
- #1-seed is now 16-5 all-time in the championship game, winning four straight
- Henry Shannon III of William Woods led the floor with 20 points, Kevin Taylor and Tre Titus scored 15 points while Francis Okwuosah added 18 points.
- Wade Williams was the only Mustang in double figures with 12 points while Devin Foster pulled down 11 boards.
- Taylor broke the all-time single game tournament record in most defensive rebounds with 15 and he tied most rebounds with 20.
- Devin Foster blocked four shots for the Mustangs while Taylor blocked four shots for the Owls.
- William Woods’ D’Mari Wiltz dished out 10 assists.
- William Woods shot 43 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 81 percent from the free-throw line. Central Baptist shot 25 percent from the field, 10 percent from deep and 68 percent from the foul-line.
The first and second rounds of the NAIA National Tournament will take place on March 14 and 15 at campus sites. Both teams will learn their first-round opponent during the NAIA Men’s Basketball Selection Show on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. on the NAIA Network.
