Missouri Baptist Wins First-Ever AMC Softball Tournament Title

CONWAY, Ark. - The Missouri Baptist University Spartans made history by capturing their first-ever American Midwest Conference (AMC) Softball Tournament title with a 1-0 shutout victory over the Central Baptist College Mustangs.

Game 14: Missouri Baptist def. Central Baptist, 1-0

The Spartans went undefeated throughout the tournament, collecting wins over Central Baptist, Stephens, and William Woods. With the championship win, Missouri Baptist improves to 44-6 overall and 20-2 in AMC play, extending their winning streak to 16 games.

Central Baptist concluded their tournament run with a 31-25 overall record and a 15-7 mark in conference play.

Offensively, four Spartans—Jenna Achs, Jacie Dees, Alexi Sanchez, and Allison Leigraf—each recorded one hit. Dees drove in the game’s only run, while Madison Leckrone crossed the plate to score.

Both teams tallied four hits apiece in the tightly contested matchup.

In the circle, Taylor Whitehead started for the Spartans, pitching two innings with one strikeout and two hits allowed. Brooklynn Fischer came on in relief, tossing five scoreless innings, striking out three, and giving up just two hits. Remarkably, neither pitcher issued a walk. The Spartans’ pitchers combined for a walk-free performance.

The Spartans and the Mustangs earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

Both teams will learn their opening-round opponents during the NAIA Selection Show on Wednesday, May 7 at 4:58 p.m. on the NAIA YouTube page.
