AMC Women's Soccer Quarterfinals Recap
St. Louis, Mo. - The top four seeds were victorious in the 2024 American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinals on Friday.
Game #1 - (1) Columbia def. (8) Central Baptist, 9-0 (BOX SCORE)
Hannah Shylanski scored two goals and assisted on a third and Delaynie Brown also found the back of the net twice for the Columbia offense that scored seven first half goals en route to the 9-0 victory. Macie Lucas and Delfina Zolesio each had a goal and two assists as the Cougars had seven different goal scorers and had eight players record an assist. Rebecca Vandenburg made 16 saves for Central Baptist.
Game #2 - (4) Harris-Stowe def. (5) Health Sciences & Pharmacy, 5-0 (BOX SCORE)
Harris-Stowe jumped on the scoreboard early with Brianna Williams scoring just 51 seconds into the contest but that was the lone score of the first half. Annalisa Castro, Jasmin Kraus, and Anna-Lena Moritz found the back of the net in the second half. Layla Weston and Emma Auer assisted on Castro and Kraus' goals, respectively. Lena-Marie Winkler made five saves for the Hornets. Lauren Harding and Daniela Park combined for eight saves for the UHSP.
Game #3 - (3) William Woods def. (6) Williams Baptist, 4-0 (BOX SCORE)
Hannah Loethen found the back of the net just 47 seconds into the match to give William Woods the early 1-0 lead then closed out the Owls scoring early in the second half with her second goal of the night. Marissa Kiemen and Maddy Schrader added goals just 45 seconds apart in the 31st and 32nd minutes as William Woods took a 3-0 lead into halftime. Kiemen added an assist on Loethen's second goal. Lauren Helmert (Loethen's first) and Wilson Hornsby (Schrader) also had assists.
Game #4 - (2) Missouri Baptist def. (7) Stephens, 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
Natalie Gum pair of goals were the difference in the game for the Spartans. Mara George got Missouri Baptist on the board before Gum's two goals. AnnaRose Eldred, Kacey Watson, Leah Maxvill and Piper Brown each recorded an assist. Lily Cook scored Stephens lone goal in the 77th minute. Sofia Ramos made nine saves for the Stars.
The semifinals of the AMC Women's Soccer Tournament are Monday, November 11, with Columbia hosting Harris-Stowe at 6:00 pm and Missouri Baptist hosting William Woods at 7:00 pm. The winners will advance to the Championship match, scheduled for Thursday, November 14, with an automatic bid to the NAIA Tournament up for grabs.
Tickets for both semifinal matches and the championship match are on sale, and should be purchased online in advance at www.amcsportsonline.com/tickets. Veterans and active members of the military have free admission to the semifinal matches on Monday.
