Missouri Baptist Claims Second Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship
ELSAH, Ill. – (Results) Missouri Baptist Spartans took home the 2019 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Crafton Center on the campus of Principia College.
The Spartans won their second conference championship after scoring 146 points, edging out Columbia who scored 143 points.
Park Pirates scored 128 points for third-place, while William Woods (89 points) and Hannibal-LaGrange (42 points) rounded out the top-five team scoring.
The AMC will release the full list of all-conference selections on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The Spartans were led individually by Emily Bayer who was named Freshman of the Year. Bayer finished first in the 800-meter run (2:26.53), first in the mile run (5:27.35) and was a part of the 4X400-meter (4:13.79) and 4X800-meter relay (11:16.21) teams that won first and third respectively. She set a season best in the 800 and helped 4X400-meter relay team to a season best performance.
Parks' Imani Hutchinson earned Newcomer of the Year, placing first in the 60-meter dash (7.73—seconds) and first in the 200-meter dash (25.46).
Pia Von Keutz and Kaleena Logan, both of Columbia, earned Outstanding Track Athlete and Outstanding Field Athlete, respectively. Von Keutz finished first in the 5,000-meter run (18:18.67), first in the 3,000-meter run (10:35.84) and second in the mile run (5:29.55). Von Keutz's times in the 3,000-meter run and 5,000-meter run are season-bests. She also hit the NAIA "B-Standard" in the 5,000-meter run.
Logan picked up second-place finishes in the high jump (1.50-meters) and triple jump (11.45-meters), fourth-place in the pole vault (2.38-meters) and long jump (5.31-meters), fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (10.06-seconds) and was part of the 4X400-meter relay team that finished fourth. She sent a season-best mark in the long jump and triple jump.

Missouri Baptist coaching staff featuring head coach Katie Goodwin and assistant coaches Mark Sissom and Scott Sissom were named Women's Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year.
AMC athletes that have hit the NAIA "A-Standard" will earn a spot at the NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships, which takes place in Brookings, S.D. on Feb. 28 – March 2. Schools are allowed to take up to three athletes that have hit the NAIA "B-Standard" to the national meet.
In addition to the awards, the AMC also announced the Women's Indoor Track & Field Champions of Character Team. These individuals were selected by her coach and teammates as the best individual on their team that best displays exemplary character and sportsmanship on the track, on campus and in the community.
