From Fairway to Fame: Coach Doty Named into NAIA Hall of Fame

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Barry Doty has been named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Hall of Fame after an illustrious 22 years as a head golf coach. Doty spent two years at the helm of the Columbia College men's and women's teams after leading the William Woods University golf programs for 20 years.
 
As the all-time winningest coach at both Columbia College and William Woods University, Doty has accumulated a 77.4 career winning percentage, collecting 3,188 wins, 225 tournament victories, and 37 American Midwest Conference (AMC), NAIA Region, and Unaffiliated Championships wins.
 
"Coach Doty's induction into the NAIA Hall of Fame reflects decades of leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to the student-athlete experience," said Cindy Potter, Columbia College Director of Athletics. "He has elevated our golf program through his tireless work ethic and passion for the sport, and his influence continues to shape the culture of excellence at Columbia College."
 
Under Doty's leadership, his teams reached the NAIA National Championship 35 times, earning four runner-up finishes, nine top-four placements, and 16 top-ten results. He has coached 61 All-Americans, 24 Conference and Region Players of the Year, over 100 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, two All-Nicklaus Team members, and two Phil Mickelson Award recipients.
 
Doty now serves as an assistant coach for the Cougars in his fourth season at Columbia College. Current CC men's and women's head golf coach Noah Wilson shared, "There is no one more deserving of this great accomplishment than Coach Doty. To be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame is more than just recognition of wins and championships—it's a testament to the lives you've shaped, the character you've built, and the legacy you leave behind. It has been an honor to learn from him and see just how much he's given to this great game."
 
Other highlights of Doty's accomplished career include maintaining a winning record against NCAA Division I and II opponents across numerous tournaments, while also achieving multiple No. 1 national rankings. Doty is also a 2017 William Woods University Athletics Hall of Fame member. The induction recognizes Doty as one of the most respected and accomplished golf coaches in NAIA history.
