Tournament Seeding and Qualifying Plan

St. Louis, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) Executive Committee has approved criteria for determining regular-season champion and tournament seeding in instances where complete Conference schedules are not played. These criteria are for the 2020-21 academic year only.

  1. All reasonable attempts will be made to reschedule games postponed due to COVID-related reasons.
  2. The regular-season champion will be the team with the highest winning percentage (point percentage for soccer) amongst the teams that have completed at least 75-percent of the Conference schedule.
  3. The tournament will be seeded using a format that factors both winning percentage and percentage of games played.
    1. Teams that have completed 75-percent or more of the Conference schedule will be seeded based on winning percentage
    2. After those teams are seeded, teams that have completed between 50 and 74.9-percent of the Conference schedule will be seeded based on winning percentage.
    3. After those teams are seeded, teams that have completed between 33 and 49.9-percent of the Conference schedule will be seeded based on winning percentage.
    4. Finally, teams that completed less than 33-percent of the Conference schedule will be seeded based on winning percentage.
Note:  will always round down if the percentage results in a portion of a game (i.e. 75% for women's basketball is 13.5, a team will be part of the first seeding group if they play 13 games).
Note:  games canceled due to weather will not count against a team when calculating the percentage of games played (i.e. a team that is 10-1 and had 3 games canceled due to weather will be considered in the 75% grouping).

These Executive Committee decisions apply to basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball. Schedule changes not related to COVID will follow the normal Conference and/or NAIA policies.
