ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the 2025 AMC Volleyball season awards, All-Conference Teams, Champions of Character Team and Academic All-Conference Team.
- Jatnna Pena-Perez of Stephens made history as the first player from the school to earn Player of the Year honors. She also became just the second athlete ever to be named Defensive Player of the Year twice. She is the first-ever athlete to win both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same year.
- Emma Whitson became the first Stephens player to be named Setter of the Year, while Lena Hunziker earned the program’s first-ever Attacker of the Year recognition.
- Columbia’s Kenedi Canty earned AMC Freshman of the Year, becoming the 13th Cougar in program history to receive the honor.
- Amiyah Saxton became the first athlete from Crowley’s Ridge to win a major end-of-year award in any sport, earning AMC Newcomer of the Year.
- Head Coach Carol Brotmann of Crowley’s Ridge captured the school’s first-ever Coach of the Year award in any sport.
- Madeline Freeman (Central Baptist) was named All-Conference for the third time in her career, while Hannah Vogt (Columbia), Amari Branch-Autman (Stephens) and Lena Hunziker (Stephens) were each recognized for the second time.
- Two players earned their second First Team All-Conference selection: Pena-Perez and Whitson from Stephens.
- The season awards and All-Conference Teams were selected by a vote of the Conference volleyball coaches.
- The Champions of Character Team includes one player from each school, chosen by their coach and teammates as the individual who best exemplifies the Five Core Values of the NAIA Champions of Character® Initiative — Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Integrity, and Servant Leadership.
- To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be in their second semester at their AMC institution, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, and finish the year on the team.
