AMC Volleyball Day One Recap

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Day one delivered nonstop action as the quarterfinals and semifinals of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Volleyball Tournament unfolded at the Bradley Beal Center.

Central Baptist, Columbia, Crowley’s Ridge, and Stephens secured spots in the semifinals after the first four matches of the day.
By the end of the session, Columbia and Stephens had punched their tickets to the finals.

Quarterfinals Matches:
Game One: (1) Columbia def. (8) Health Sciences & Pharmacy, 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
  • Columbia’s Isabella Kincaid recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs.
  • Two Cougars reached double digit in assists: Alexa Olson (14) and Hannah Vogt (15).
  • Viola Giangreco added 10 kills for the Cougars.
  • UHSP’s Jenna Brinson tallied 22 assists.
  • Hannah Kynaston led the UHSP with nine kills; Makenzie Uribe added 13 digs.
  • The Eutectics concluded the season with a 7-28 record.
Game Two: (5) Central Baptist def. (4) Mission, 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
  • CBC earned its first-ever tournament win, upsetting Mission.
  • Two Mustangs posted double-digit kills and two reached double digits in assists; three players hit double-digit digs.
  • CBC’s Madeline Freeman recorded a double-double with 20 assists and 17 digs.
  • Four Patriots tallied double-digit kills, and four reached double-digit digs.
  • Abbi Street had a double-double for Mission with 10 kills and 17 digs.
  • Mission’s Hannah Maxwell had a floor-high 41 assists.
  • MU ended the season with a 15-18 record.
Game Three: (3) Crowley’s Ridge def. (6) Cottey, 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
  • Crowley’s Ridge Jillian Glasgow posted a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.
  • Maddie Burris added 13 assists for the Pioneers.
  • Two Pioneers reached double-digit kills: Brooklyn Cross (12) and Kyrsten Bake (10).
  • Cottey’s Tatum Marang led the team with six kills, while Braylen Ford recorded eight assists.
  • Three Comets finished with seven digs: Morgan Koch, Katelyn (Gray) Scott and Saylah Rea.
  • Cottey closed the season with a 17-20 record.
Game Four: (2) Stephens def. (7) Harris-Stowe, 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
  • AMC Player and Defensive Player of the Year Jatnna Pena-Perez totaled 18 digs, while AMC Attacker of the Year Lena Hunziker added 10 digs.
  • AMC Setter of the Year Emma Whitson recorded a floor-high 33 assists.
  • Amari Branch-Autman of Stephens scored 11 kills.
  • Isa Smith and Jayla Payne each have 10 assists for the Hornets, while Dejah Foster added 10 digs.
  • HSSU finished the season with a 12-18 record.
Semifinals Matches:
Game Five: Columbia def. Central Baptist, 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
  • The Cougars advanced to its sixth consecutive AMC title game
  • AMC Freshman of the Year Kenedi Canty had 10 kills.
  • Taylor Johnson recorded 19 kills.
  • Olson (24) and Vogt (13) again reached double-digit assists.
  • CBC’s Ava White and Freeman each recorded double-digit digs.
  • Aubree Ruggles had eight kills, and Freeman added eight assists for the mustangs
  • CBC season came to a close with a 22-14 record.
Game Six: Stephens def. Crowley’s Ridge, 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
  • Stephens made history today, advancing to its first-ever AMC championship match.
  • Whitson tallied a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs.
  • Pena-Perez added 15 digs for the Stars.
  • Stephens’ offense was powered by Hunziker (13 kills) and Michaline Oles (12 kills).
  • AMC Newcomer of the Year Amiyah Saxton led the team with 13 kills.
  • Glasgow (17) and Burris (15) recorded double-digit assists for Crowley’s Ridge.
  • Alyssa Dirden had 14 digs for CRC, while Cross posted 11 kills.
  • CRC recorded its second-most wins in a season since joining the NAIA, finishing with a 18-21 mark.
